HR Advisor (Lyndhurst)

Job Description:

Optima Plus Recruitment are seeking a fully trained and experienced HR Advisor on behalf of our valued client to join their Human Resources team, providing professional HR advice and support across the full range of employee relations matters.

You will work alongside an Assistant HR Advisor, two HR Advisors, and be supported by a Senior HR Advisor who oversees the team. This is a key role that requires depth and breadth of HR advisory experience, the ability to manage complex casework, and the skills to coach managers effectively.

The role is hybrid, with an expectation to work at least 50% of your time based across district sites (including the head office in Lyndhurst, Lymington Depot, Ringwood and Hardley). Therefore, access to a vehicle is essential.

This is a fixed-term contract (9–12 months) with a competitive salary of £40,174 – £43,236.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional HR advice to managers and employees on employment policies, procedures, and employment law.
  • Manage a wide range of employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, dismissal, and appeal hearings.
  • Support organisational change projects including restructures, TUPE, and changes to terms and conditions.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, ensuring alignment with best practice and legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with managers, trade unions, and employee representatives to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Deliver HR-related training for managers and staff.
  • Represent HR in corporate projects, employee forums, wellbeing initiatives, and other specialist groups.
  • Liaise with Occupational Health and provide sensitive support on employee wellbeing and ill-health cases.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • CIPD Level 5 (Associate Membership) as a minimum.
  • Substantial post-qualification HR advisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Excel.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).

Desirable:

  • Experience working within the public sector.
  • Psychometric testing qualifications (Levels A & B).
  • Full Chartered Membership of CIPD.
