Consultant Geriatrician

  • Location: East Midlands
  • Rate of Pay: £105,504 to £139,882 a year Per annum pro rata
  • Hours: Full-time, Part-time

Job Description: 

We are recruiting for Consultant Geriatricians to join our dedicated team across two locations within our network of East Midlands hospitals. The department has expanded over the past five years, and we are seeking individuals to support the growth and development of our services in this region. The roles are part of a high-performing team involved in a variety of specialties, including Parkinson’s disease, falls, fracture prevention, and syncope. There are opportunities for further development within the Department’s academic research program, under the leadership of a reputable Professor in the field of Geriatrics.

You will be involved in providing excellent clinical care, contributing to academic teaching, and leading research initiatives. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work to enhance services for older patients across the hospital network and community settings, as well as provide supervision and mentorship to junior colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical duties in inpatient and outpatient care for elderly patients, including those with complex and multi-system health conditions.
  • Leadership in the development of services in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
  • Engagement in clinical research and audits to improve services for the elderly.
  • Contribution to the expansion of services into community models across the East Midlands.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • MBBS/MBCH and possession of MRCP or equivalent.
  • Eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CESR in Medicine for the Elderly at the time of interview.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Postgraduate thesis and higher degree/MD.
