Education Health and Care (EHC) Coordinator – Medway (Permanent)

  • Location: Hybrid – Client’s Offices & Medway Hubs (3 days per week on-site)
  • Salary: £31,283 – £37,181 per annum
  • Contract Type: Permanent

Job Description:

Optima Plus Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a valued client for five permanent Education Health and Care (EHC) Coordinators within the client’s SEND & Inclusion Service. This hybrid position is based in Medway, requiring attendance at the client’s Gun Wharf Office and local hubs three days per week, with flexible remote working available for the remaining days.

This role is ideal for individuals who are experienced in local authority SEND casework, have a solid understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, and are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in accordance with statutory requirements and individual needs
  • Coordinate multi-agency advice and ensure all work aligns with the 20-week statutory assessment timeframe
  • Provide dedicated support to families and professionals throughout the EHCP process
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, contributing to service reviews and improvements
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience working in SEND or specialist education environments
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to manage complex caseloads
  • Pastoral care and safeguarding awareness
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and specialist SEND data systems
  • Ability to travel across the Medway area as required

Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (Grades A–C / 4–9) in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Minimum of two A-levels or a Level 3 academic qualification
  • A professional qualification in SEND or a related field is desirable
