Job Description:

In your role as the Assistant Head of Department for Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades, your
responsibilities will include assisting the Head of Department in overseeing and enhancing the
curriculum for Study Programmes, Apprenticeships, and Adult courses. You will also manage staff
and resources within the Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades area across both our Cambridge and
Huntingdon Campuses. Furthermore, you will contribute to improving student outcomes by upholding
high performance standards, tracking progress, monitoring results, and motivating both staff and
students

Accountabilities

  • Providing day to day support to the Multi-Skills Trowel Trades teams.
  • Assisting with timetabling of courses across the Department with a student-centred approach.
  • Developing and implementing a teaching support cover rota for the Department.
  • To support, develop and embed a collaborative approach to planning, preparation and
    adaptation of resources to ensure that all students reach their full potential in every learning
    environment.
  • Embed English & Maths throughout the curriculum and at the centre of all study programmes.
  • Monitor and act upon poor attendance, punctuality and behaviour in line with college processes
    and procedures, and to ensure that area and College targets are met.
  • Develop industry contacts to ensure currency of curriculum content and provide work
    experience opportunities.
  • Work closely with the MIS team to ensure that flexible study programmes are accurately
    captured through the college’s timetabling systems.
  • Share with all delivery and support staff any adjustments that are required to support students
    with personalised study programmes, so that they plan and share adjusted approaches to
    learning to facilitate high level outcomes.
  • Assist in recruitment and admission of new learners.
  • Make effective use of the Quality Improvement data as a vehicle to drive improvement for the area that results in tangible and measurable improvements.
  • Work with managers across the college/department to share best practice and ensure.
  • consistency of standards.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Must hold Level 5 or above teaching qualifications such as DTLLS or Cert Ed / PGCE.
  • A Construction qualification relating to the curriculum.
  • Must hold or be working towards IQA Award or equivalent.
  • Recent teaching experience in the relevant curriculum area.
