Job Description:
Optima Plus Recruitment is seeking an experienced Locum Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to undertake statutory face-to-face Best Interests Assessments. This flexible, pay-per-assessment role typically involves around 3 assessments per week.
You will conduct important assessments to support safeguarding vulnerable adults under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) framework, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake complex Best Interests Assessments following statutory guidance.
- Ensure assessments comply with Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007, and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Work efficiently and independently while maintaining accurate records and clear reports.
- Travel across Medway and Kent areas to complete assessments.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Qualified BIA with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Completed BIA refresher training within the last 12 months.
- Approved professional status as one of the following:
- Approved Mental Health Professional
- Registered Social Worker
- First level nurse registered under Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001
- Registered Occupational Therapist
- Ability to work independently and travel within the designated area.
