About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Gastroenterology to join our trusted healthcare partner in the East Midlands. This is a replacement post designed to maintain and expand comprehensive gastroenterology services.
You will be responsible for providing high-standard clinical care, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to clinical governance, research, and education. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enhance gastroenterology services, including both elective and non-elective care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of high-quality gastroenterology services, including diagnosis and treatment.
- Management of both elective and emergency gastroenterology services.
- Active contribution to departmental and Trust clinical governance, research, and audit initiatives.
- Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.
- Participation in on-call and GI bleed rotas.
- Supporting service development and innovation to meet the evolving needs of the department.
Qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- Possession of MRCP
Essential Requirements:
- Eligibility to reside and work in the UK
- Evidence of entry on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or CESR) OR within six months of attaining CCT at the time of the interview
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Comprehensive technical competence in gastroenterology and general medicine
Desirable:
- Additional higher medical or scientific degree relevant to the specialty
- Sub-specialist interest in areas such as Upper GI cancer, nutrition, endoscopic ultrasound, or liver disease
- Community clinic experience
- Current GCP and research experience
- Peer-reviewed publications
