About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Acute Medicine to join a dynamic and expanding team for an East Midlands Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care across the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), Same Day Emergency Care (mSDEC), and supporting the Emergency Department (ED) team.
This is a key position designed to enhance acute care services and ensure patients receive timely and effective care in a transformed healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality clinical care across MAU, mSDEC, and ED in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to the expansion and redesign of emergency, urgent, and acute care services at our Client’s East Midlands Hospital.
- Manage both elective and emergency acute care pathways for patients.
- Actively participate in clinical governance, research, and audit activities.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including doctors and clinical practitioners.
- Deliver teaching and training to junior doctors, medical students, and other clinical staff.
- Participate in the hospital’s on-call and weekend rota (1:6).
- Contribute to service development and innovation to meet the evolving needs of the hospital and its patients.
Qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- Possession of MRCP
Essential Requirements:
- Evidence of entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining CCT at the time of interview
- Clinical experience equivalent to UK CCT in General Internal Medicine
- Experience in Same Day Emergency Care and Acute Medicine
Desirable:
- CCT in Acute Internal Medicine
- Postgraduate thesis or higher medical qualifications relevant to acute care
