About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior
School Improvement Manager to lead school improvement initiatives
across Northamptonshire. This temporary role, with an excellent day rate of
approximately £500, offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing flexibility
between office-based and remote work.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring
that schools within the county provide a high-quality educational experience
for all learners. This includes providing leadership, intervention, and support
where schools are underperforming, as well as championing the needs of
vulnerable children and those with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage school improvement within the Learning, Skills, and Education service, ensuring schools deliver high standards for all learners.
- Develop and implement school improvement strategies aligned with Northamptonshire County Council’s goals, driving excellence and raising educational standards.
- Ensure effective governance structures are in place to support school leadership and drive improvement.
- Collaborate with the School Effectiveness Team to challenge and support maintained schools, coordinating school-to-school support and sharing best practices.
- Act as the first point of contact for Head Teachers on school improvement issues, providing advice and signposting to other services.
- Strategically lead on areas such as:
- Assessment & Moderation
- Attendance & Inclusion
- Data Analysis of Pupil Outcomes
- Disadvantaged Pupils & Pupil Premium
- Safeguarding
- Leadership & Governance
- Teaching & Learning
- Support the selection process for Head Teachers and provide advice on formal school interventions where necessary.
- Prepare and present reports on educational progress and achievements to senior officers, stakeholders, and elected members.
Requirements
- A degree and a recognised teaching qualification.
- At least three years of senior management experience in a school or local authority setting.
- Proven experience in leading educational improvement and using data to evaluate and enhance school performance.
- Strong knowledge of Early Years, Primary, and Secondary Education practices.
- A collaborative approach to working with schools, agencies, and local authority teams to achieve educational excellence.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering successful school improvement strategies and working with vulnerable groups.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
