Job Description:
As the Work-Based Learning Manager, you will lead the development and growth of apprenticeships and other work-based learning programmes to meet both employer and learner needs. You will oversee the day-to-day delivery of all work-based learning programmes, managing a team of assessors to achieve high-quality outcomes and growth targets, while maintaining budgetary control and ensuring programme success.
Accountabilities:
- Develop strategies to engage employers and grow apprenticeship recruitment.
- Identify funding opportunities, including apprenticeships and full-cost work, to meet employer needs.
- Build relationships with employers to create opportunities for curriculum advice, work placements, and job roles.
- Promote apprenticeship programmes through career events and school outreach.
- Lead the planning and design of work-based learning curricula, ensuring all qualification and framework requirements are met.
- Ensure that resources are effectively managed and allocated according to contract requirements.
- Oversee the quality assurance of training provision, ensuring it aligns with employer and awarding body standards.
- Support full-time learners with work placement opportunities and assist in developing new apprenticeship programmes.
- Collaborate with the Employer Engagement Team to recruit, assess, and monitor work-based learners.
- Implement strategies to ensure learner success and timely completion of programmes.
- Monitor performance data, success rates, and learner progress, providing monthly reports on team performance.
- Provide proactive leadership to assessors, ensuring performance targets are met and staff development is prioritised.
- Manage staff appraisals, performance improvement plans, and continuous professional development (CPD).
- Conduct regular reviews of caseloads, deep dive quality checks, and organise developmental observations.
- Achieve budget targets and contribute to strategic improvement plans.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, safeguarding legislation, and the College’s Equality and Diversity policies.
- Provide timely reports on quality and operational performance and participate in college-wide initiatives.
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant area.
- A1 Assessor qualification/TAQA.
- V1 Internal Verification qualification or willingness to work towards it.
- Management qualifications and teaching qualifications (Cert Ed/PGCE) are desirable.
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in teaching/assessing in a relevant curriculum area.
- Strong knowledge of New Apprenticeship Standards and quality assurance procedures.
- Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and motivating a large team.
- Excellent communication, IT, organisational, and data analysis skills.
Special Requirements:
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel independently for business purposes.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure is required, and the post is classified as regulated activity.
